Foot Operated Water Pump - not working

Hello, we've just returned from a smashing weekend out in our Villa 3, we replenished the water in the tank before we went away, sterilised everything and flushed the tap through, however, when we got where we were going, nothing would come throught the taps, which is a bit odd as 4 hours earlier when we left home it was all working perfectly well. The water pump is operated by pressing a button under the floor and has never given us trouble before, we can hear it whirring away but no water is coming out.
Any ideas???
And ... is it a difficult job to repair and replace them?

The fact that you can hear it running rules out an electrical fault at least. I'm not that familiar with the Villa 3 set up - does the pump have to be primed do you know? When you press the floor switch, is there a few seconds wait while the water makes it's way up through the pipes up to the tap and then any water left in the pipe runs back into the tank when you take your foot off?

Perhaps the outlet pipe has come off the pump?
That is assuming it is a pump that sits in the tank as opposed to an in line pump which can sometimes need "priming"....
Hope you get it sorted
Andy

Thanks Guys, any idea where I can take it in West Yorkshire for someone to look at, it could be either of those things. It was all working tickety boo one moment and not at all the next.

Sorry, I can't. If you can answer my original question(s) and tell me if you have access to the tank I might be able to help
you to sort it......

Hi, mine does the same when tank runs dry, or I get a air lock in the pipe.
In the absence of any way to prime the pump, I find disconnecting the watertank pipe from the pump and sucking to clear the air lock normally does the trick, however you have to be quick reconnecting the pipe if you do not want a wet floor.

Do you have a non-return valve close to the tap? If so, it could be that this valve isn't opening properly. If not, then it could be that your pump isn't working 100% and is unable to push the water all the way to the tap. They're only supposed to run for ten or fifteen seconds max - hence the non-return valve.

I simply can't answer the questions you need answering, sorry ... I just don't know, all I know is there's a pump on the floor and it was working and now it isn;t but it is making a sound so the pump itself seems to be working. I'm thinking airlock, although quite how I don't know as we tested it all before we set off on our trip.

If your pump's on the floor (in a cupboard presumably) then this is probably your solution. I'd have some towels at the ready.....
