Electric fuel Pump

Hi,
In the process over the next couple of days fitting an electric fuel pump. I have noticed that on the new pump it is supplied with a filter which screws in to the supply side of the pump. The question I have is do I need to keep my original `Mann` fuel filter plumbed in to the system or will this little one be sufficient. Its a third of the size of the `Mann` one. Will it effect the flow too much do you think.....Or shall I go with my gut feeling and bin the `Mann` one.
Thanks
Glenn.
