Can someone please help, I have a 1987 VW transporter and I have tried to fit some mud flaps, First I tried some new original part flaps from Justkampers, these were very poorly made and did not follow the same profile as the wheel arch. I am now trying to fit a much more expensive pair from Brickwerks, however I’m not keen on drilling through the wheel arch or is there any way of fixing the large part of the flap to the inner wing. These mud flap are supposed to have been fitted to the Jokers, does anyone out they have a picture of how they are supposed to fit. Thanks rich

Can you explain which flaps you are referring to? Front or rears?

Part numbers, or even photos would help my friend.

Thanks all for the info. I am only trying the front ones for now, seems a little odd fitting them away from the arch, I guest inserts need to be embedded into te body to reain the top section. Forgot to mention my bus is lowered therefore the flaps are too close to the ground if fitted back from the arch

it depends which mud flaps you've bought, one type fit the arch, others don't. If yours came with threaded pins, and brackets like the one's above then they're not meant to fit to the arch.

These are probably the flaps you're after, they apear to be original + fit the arch, with the current exchange rate they'll probably end up a fair bit cheaper too.

The JK ones are original VW South African ones. They fit a lot better if you screw them to the wheel arch rather than using the clips and offer more protection from gravel rash to the wheel arch edge than the European ones.

Hi Rich,

did you ever get round to fitting those front JK mud flaps? They're not a great fit are they and no instructions. If you did, any chance you could take a pic for me so I can learn from your experience?

I've fitted a set of the just kampers mud flaps last week, they only took ten or fifteen minutes a pair. The most time consuming part was removing the front wheel. I used all the clips and bolts provided in the kit, rather than drilling the arch flange, not a good idea having bare metal on a thirty year old arch. I'll try and get some pics.

I drilled and tapping screwed a pair of JK mud flaps to the arches, I assume they were JK flaps as I got them for £20 second hand and I had no clips.

I used stainless screws and those black plastic screw caps that are used on number plates. Flaps have caught several speedbumps as well as humps and bumps on campsites and had I used clips they would have been lost in months rather than stayed put for 6 years

I can also fit the flaps without removing the wheels Full lock either way on the fronts and a stubby screwdriver on the rears

Very true you can fit them by turning the wheels from lock to lock, but the just kampers flaps require a hole to be drilled on the outrigger that goes between the jacking point and the chassis leg. To drill this hole I had to remove the wheel.
