Does anyone know the correct name and part number for the syncro specific water junction/coolant distributor/hose junction for a 1988 DJ? and where I could get one (new if possible). It looks like this: http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Hos ... try_GB.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheers

I've worked out a repair method but got to field test it first:

Any chance of doing that test by Thursday :wink:

The guy that's fitting the engine is finding it difficult to get hold of one. He gave me this part number for reference 251121438 saying I need the syncro specific part, but not having seen the piece for myself I'm a bit confused. The image you posted is what I imagined it to be having fitted it myself a few years back. Is this what you would call the water junction? Are there any other junctions like this?

He's got the old engine on floor right now with quite few other bits to sort before the new engine goes in. Was hoping to have it sorted for the weekend...!

There are about 5 different variations on this coolant manifold, I have a couple for syncro supplied by Aidan, diesel one is quite different. That pic on Heritage is the 2wd version i think, syncro one is NLA when I spoke to Aidan about this little project a while ago.
E D I T They could probably be repaired "in the field" but to do it properly involves a workshop process for any chance of a successful result.
Post it to me Sp.Del. and I can sort it asap but it's unproven, even though the idea is sound.

251 121 442A for all petrol syncro models. Can we stop going round and round in circles now? I'm getting giddy :lol:

There's a company in germany that makes them in stainless. Had to replace mine, quite expensive though.. But nice. Can post the link when I get home, but you should be able to find it on google using the part number.

Stainless from Germany would be nice but the engine is ready to go back in. A little short sighted to go plastic again but I'm running out of time.

Jes... you happy to sell me one of those?

and if so, any chance of getting it in the post guaranteed next day delivery? The engine is ready to go back in and the guy that's fitting it is going on holiday on Friday so the pressure is on..... I'm even prepared to drive to you from London and pick up if means I can get my hands on it quicker!

Sure, I'm in Sittingbourne collecting the galvanising for the club. How about a meet there, most likely they will ring and say it will be ready after lunch.
