Can anyone recommend a quiet site near York that would be suitable for me to introduce the better half to the joys of camping? My previous attempt was a small tent about 25 years ago which became amphibious in the small hours. Camping became a four letter word, but I now have a second chance.

So, not too crowded or noisy. Planning weekend of 15th June, and keeping fingers crossed that the weather behaves. Hookup not required as I have a basic microbus with awning, not full blown camper.

Frankly if she's that scared of camping I don't think the venue matters......

Naburn Lock - lovely campsite, near a lock...

Showers V Clean and free, not far from York, there's a cycle path that takes you all the way in.

Or there's Ashfield in Dunnington - also a nice site, bit smaller and again supre easy to get into York.

Thanks for the recommendations, Kemlo. Just watching the weather situation now as I don't want the Memsa'hib to experience a wet one for her re-introduction.

theres an adult only site near pocklington, Burnby hall gardens worth a visit , heritage water lilly collection, take her gliding from the nearby airstrip, visit me and put her off for life.....lol

I second Naburn Lock. It's certainly a bit quite and the people that run it like their rules. We did the cycle ride into the city, it's a flat easy route and all off road.
