I have a tdi conversion, and i'm using a fly by wire pedal. Which although works fine, is a bit of a awkward angle for your ankle
So did a bit of research, and it seemed HAprojekt had the best pedal

But didnt really want to pay that amount for a pedal. So searched ebay.de and found the same pedal, £40 delivered to UK

Interesting. I'd driven a van with (I think) a Golf pedal, but didn't like it, so put my sender in the engine bay. However I'd like to be 'fly by wire', so if this feels better maybe I'll go for it. I think its from a 7M Sharan, chassis no 7MW020001 onwards. There are different part numbers for petrol/diesel and LHD/RHD. The ETKA illustration number is 721-60.

Do you find it abit stiff being in the engine bay Andy?

There is a RHD version of the pedal, that although the bar looks the same, the pedal seems to be at a different angle (would point up when fitted)
I'll fit it in a week or so, and post what i think, but just by looking at in situ it is much more in the position of original pedal

No, I'd seen some folk had found this, to the extent they'd been pulling the sender apart to change the spring. However when I fitted mine it seemed fine. I did take care to put the cable though a nice smooth bend toward the sender, and its fairly fresh (about five years old) which may help. Maybe having size 12 feet helps too !

Changing the spring sounds interesting. I wouldnt say mine was that stiff really and I had got used to the different feel, its just I drove Lloyds van the other day and is like a rally car and although the low gearing would make it feel like this I cant help feel that the peddle set up he has contributes. I can only explain it being like a light switch, with the cable fed its like having a dimmer switch and a wire fed is like a on and off switch. Saying that though I would be tempted to drive in a different style if it was on or off as I couldnt control myself so its probably doing my engine, gearbox and my MPG a favour keeping it on the stiff side

Indeed ! I know just what you mean though about the difference. I found the Golf pedal 'too easy' to push, i think off-road with the van bouncing around it might be difficult to use smoothly. The greater resistance of the stock pedal/cable linkage will help control it I think. As it is now on my pickup, it really isn't that much 'stiffer' than before maybe 10-20% at most. But as I say I think big feet really do help.. Plus for long journeys there's always cruise control.

Re. opening the sender, I really wouldn't go there, very easy to mess it up I think. My plan B was to simply add a 'helper spring' externally, and I'd designed my bracket to allow me to easily add one, but didn't need to.

I love the idea of an external spring that can be removed for more control off road. Thanks for the heads up, can wait to finish work and go spring hunting now.

I have a Sharan pedal in my box of TDI conversion bits. It is from a RHD car. Can check the part number and take pics if anyone wants to compare anything?
I nabbed it from a yard because i had read somewhere that they are commonly used on LHD T3's when converting to TDI.

Lloydy good to see you are working through the problems / glitches in the install and getting everything spot on. Must be fuming to say the least that it came back like it.

As for the problems with van, there is more to show yet, all in good time though....... And yes it did pee me off.........

Just got around to fitting this pedal, should have done it AGES ago! So much better, I would say it is almost the same as factory pedal

going to take a bit of getting used to! no longer like a on/off switch. Much more mellow in operation, old pedal only took a few mm travel to propel you down the road, new pedal more like the original T3 one, much more fine control.

Have you checked your still getting full throttle/demand??

Of course...
0-99 on the TPS which is correct, held the pedal in place and tested before rivnuting it in place.
Why do you ask? Does yours not?
