Hi yesterday i returned a faulty starter motor to GSF because i had had problems with it sticking and was well indside warrenty, i decided as i had a bit more spending money than i did before christmas i would pay out a bit more and upgrade to a german quality starter other than the cheap of the shelf version before.

on swopping i noted to staff if looked quite a bit different than my other one i had just brought in and was told it was because it was the different quality one.

was fortunate enough last night to be able to have use of a friends ramps to change last night which i did and it fitted and bolted in ok, started up van fine and went to reverse off ramp when i stalled so went to start again and all which happened was i could hear starter motor spinning but not engaging, checked all connections again but could not find fault, completly lost now can anyone help? my friend has said i can use ramp again thursday night but really stressing over if starter was correct one or supplied with wrong one and has damaged something? i guessing it would have never started first time or fitted if wrong on in first place.

van is a 1.6D on a B reg plate and as far as i know still has original engine and gearbox.

any help or advice please. Martin.
