Hi there sorry but im new to this .
I was wondering if anyone might now whats going on with my van.
Im losing water pretty quickly from the engine water tank when I fill it you can actually see it coming out from just under the front of the engine. Obviously being a water cooled im more than a little concerned about this.
It also not drawing from the reserve tank ether.
On removing the plastic cover next to the cambelt there is a metal plat were the water is coming from .A friend of mine suggested it is ether the core plug or the cylinder head gasket .
I have no idea and have just moved back to Glasgow after a long period living away .
Has any one had a similar problem and can point me in the right direction OR can any one recommend me to some one in my area that might now .
???????
thanks

without seeing it ... no.
but from your decription (and thats all I have) then I can give you the part number.
pictures of the leak would help us diagnose it much better
as for it being common, I don't think it matters much with a twenty five year old engine, All things that break are common at that age.

still when you fix it , it won't leak for another twenty five years

Thanks again
Your right I know all about 25 year old vw breaking down
Its only a mater of time till the next old part kicks the bucket .Im sure in a few years I will actually have a completely different van than the one I bought in the first place ,With it being made up of completely new parts all bought separately one at a time

Most of us on here are working on that assumption.. you'll start changing things BEFORE they break soon.. that's the time when you can relax knowing that your either completely insane or very astute
