We are due to take our van on a little holiday next month, and in the last week BOTH of the solex carbs on our Aircooled have started to leak, and make the van run like rubbish!

Has anyone used these service kits before from VW Heritage http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Car ... geToLoad=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If so how easy was it do? And the big question is would I have to get them both set up again by someone with the right kit afterwards?

Thanks in anticipation!

Carb kits are one thing but usually the throttle shafts are badly worn leading to air ingress and impossible idling. A carb repair kit won't fix wear in these parts. Best bloke I know is Roger Ball (Clacton) as he has the gear needed to rebush and true up these shafts for a perfect fit. After that, change the gaskets, refit and tune her up.

Hes in the online phone book, Roger Ball, Totlands Drive, Clacton. Does a fast mail order service on carbs.
