As no-one else has chimed in ...

I'm not 100% certain as I've never dealt with a DF but see if these http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_parts_Wate ... try_GB.htm are the right parts.

quick update got the pump off took an hour funny how bolts that have been in over 25 years are not to keen on coming out! pretty easy job part from one bolt that is tucked away behind the crank pulley, hopefully new pump will be picked up monday from gsf and it will go back together as easy as it came apart.

Be VERY carefull tightening things up ... you do NOT want to be snapping a stud off !

The same thing has happened to me, van passed its mot last weekend and returning from a trip out today the waterpump sounds knackered.Whats the reason for replacing the old [1983] pulley with a two piece set ?

hi jrt not sure about the pully mines an 86 with a split 2 piece pulley, as an update got new pump today from gsf its ten mins away so was got from gsf just cos there local, got the club 8090 discount so paid 38 quid with the gaskits included, re fitted pump was pretty easy apart from the bolts are a bit fiddley to get aback in nothing to hard, going to spend an hour bleeding the system tomorrow.

Nice one, i ordered a new pump today and was told that the older single piece pulley can become distorted over time. Hopefully get new pump on and bleed system in the next couple of days.Just as i was feeling pleased with myself for passing mot without any additional expense-should have known better.

the way i looked at mine, was i was lucky to have noticed the rumbling noise at mot rather than half way up a welsh hill in a cloud of steam. the way i confirmed my pump being ready for replacement was run engine have a listen then take off fan belt and have another listen also you can rock the waterpump bearing with belt off.
