Clanking Noise

Appear to have developed a clanking noise when turning at low speeds on my '82 aircooler - no noise when travelling in a straight line. Appears to be from the front end (head out of window coming round corner of the street), have checked underneath and can see nothing which is lose or broken.

Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I know you say its from the front. But check your CV joints. Thats about the only thing that changes its action when you turn

Have you checked that your anti roll bar link has not broken?

Thanks for the replies:

CV joints - Checked and appear OK
Anti Roll Bar link - not broken
Spare Wheel carrier - not lose

had another good look underneath from front to back, still can not find anything which is lose or broken.

Front end jacked up, springs checked - not broken. wheels rocked no excessive movement.

Any more ideas?

Did you look inside the spare wheel to see if there was any loose tools etc. ????

No tools kept in spare wheel carrier.

is it cyclic and vary as you speed up or slow down or is it random clanking

The noise was a constant speed , but as stated previously only whilst going round slow corners no faster than 15mph, most noticeable whilst going round the corners leading to where I live, which are very slow speed.

just been out for a run around the local area and the noise appears to have gone.... no doubt it'll be back @ some point.
