i dont no if it is true but does anybody no anyone who imports rust free panels from south africa i need a good late tailgate as i think some one told me there are "pooh" loads of spares over there as they are still used as taxis for airports today

an add in wanted should turn one up

I have one. No rust, in red with glass. Late model £175

They stopped making them in S.A. in 2002.So i doubt very much that there are many new panels.Let alone "pooh" loads.

And good luck trying to export it as well!

do you think i could drill a hole for the rear wiper or does it have a raised hole

Dont bother with the rear wiper.I have one on my velle.And i have hardly ever used it.And when i have,its just to check its still working.

yes you can drill a hole and buy the motor and bracket and such , but if yours already has w & w then its a retro fit,with a few holes drilled etc, the washer hole would be more fun but it dont have to be that shape

poshbugger i have a set of syncro mirrors on my westy which are being removed and changed to the smaller standard ones or electric ones im having a full respray in 3 weeks hence im looking for a good tailgate perhaps we can do a deal

The only recess i can see is for the vw badge not the wiper.

no nnot that one .if you look CLOSELY you will see a recess on the top to the left of the centre bar , this is for two x 10mm bolts to secure the wiper mounting plate , also at the bottom of said centre bar is another hole this is for the 3rd fixing, skin then need a hole for the wiper spindele and jet. but as said ,m why bother?
