1Y hot start

I have exactly the same problem with the warm start on my 1Y.
The engine is new to me as its a conversion in a late bay.
Where do I find the sensor for the glowplug relay. Would disconnecting it mean the dashboard glow plug light stays on?

Disconnect the glow plug tempreture senser relay wire.Its one of two rear of the cylinder head. When its removed the glow plug light will come on a hot or cold engine.But it wont go out so guess before starting on the turn key then it will go out.

Had exactly the same fault and did just that and no more problems. Strange though innit ?

Common problem. Put a 470 or 600 ohm resistor in the glowplug temperature sensor wire. It will give a few seconds of glow even when hot, and you won't notice the difference when cold.
Disconnecting the sensor is OK, but will leave the glowplugs glowing for 30 seconds even with a hot engine, and could damage the plugs.

Thats great. Which one is the correct glowplug temperature sensor wire?
The reason I ask is that ive tried to trace the wiring from the glowplug relay. The relay has a blu/blk wire on the T terminal. This however isnt connected to the sensor on the back of the head (which also has a blu/blk wire). It looks like the blu/blk from the T terminal has been connected to a white wire that goes to the multi pin plug. I cant see where it goes on the 'engine side' of the plug but it might be the one connected above the oil filter.
Ive tried to connect the T terminal to the sensor on the back of the head but the glow plug light doesnt come on and it didnt start up from cold like it normally does (did start better when hot though!)
Also the light isnt connected to the L terminal it does go off though when the relay clicks but never stays on after the engine fires up. Is this OK or normal?

My notes say it's a blue/white wire, and that's what it is on my van.
The blue/black wire is 0.3 bar oil pressure switch (also on the back of the cylinder head) according to my Haynes. That's what is does on my van too, coincidentally.

Is there another oil pressure sensor? The oil light on the dash works (on at position 1 and goes off when started at least). Where is the temp sensor?

ok so I've found the other sensors, I think.
oil pressure is on the filter housing. Temp is on a plug by the thermostat housing.
I've fitted a 600ohm resistor. Just waiting to try it out.

Yep i can confirm that the 600ohm resistor has done the trick. Light takes a little longer to go out but it starts on the button when its hot.

Hi, mates!
Looks like I have the same problem with hot starting on my caddy van 1y engine.
The thing is I just looked on the engine, it has temperature sensor built-in coolant pipe near engine. Its has 4 connectors in plug, one of the wires in it is blue-white.
When the engine was hot, I disconnected whole plug, but nothing has changed: dashboard glow plug light stays off. :/
Should I just cut off this BW wire only, to switch on dashboard glow plug light?
Please, any other suggestions are welcome.
