Exhaust Blowing Only Under Load?

My Syncro has started to make a sound as though the exhaust is blowing, but is only heard whilst under load. It cannot be heard when stationary, or even whilst coasting with clutch depressed, and revved.
I suspect it could be blowing at one of the manifolds, but thought to ask here if anyone else has experienced this, or knows of a common problem with one of the manifolds?
I might be lucky, and it just needs tightening up, but looking at the nuts/bolts, Im not looking forward to trying, and feel I may as well start saving my money to get a new complete exhaust, as its looking a little old anyway.
Any pointers, advise, tips, and insights appreciated.

If it's blowing then you should have black soot in the problem area.

Aye, I had a quick look, but need to get right under there and inspect it closer Jed. Bloody raining today so will have to wait. Cheers for the quick reply mate.

No thats not a good idea. If the manifold is warped then tightening it up is not the way. Take the manifold off and have it skimmed.
If its only blowing under load it could be that its just the start of something bigger.

I agree, you may well be right there. I will investigate further once this damn rain goes away.

Well, its not any of the manifolds. The rear silencer has an small hole, and I found another leak in the pipe that runs to the rear left of the engine. Looking at the system, it looks to me someone has had previous exhaust problems, and they have been welded up. There's even a pipe which has been welded in place rather than the correct part.
I will clean the areas before I apply some exhaust bandage to the pipe, and putty to the silencer. I would in hindsight love to replace the whole exhaust system, but not liking the prices Im seeing.
I better start saving up I guess.
And Ian if you are reading this, yes its a 4WD thing

Well just 5 months on, and my temp fix has come back to haunt me. Exhaust is leaking again, where Im unsure as not been under to inspect it yet due to heavy rain.
I really could do with a new exhaust, but with Christmas fast approaching, funds are all tied up. Depending on where the leak is, I may have to use a baked bean tin, some putty, a pair of large jubilee clips, and some wisdom until the new year.

I think you did well to get five months out of a temporary repair. Also, it sounds as though it never stops raining where you live.....

It's been the wettest year since I've lived here to be honest. Snow will be arriving soon too.
As to my previous exhaust repair, the key is in the prep work I guess, I gave the area a good wire wheel sand down before applying putty etc, then heated up whilst nursing it until the hole sealed.

I'll unwrap this box of exhaust parts you asked for then and put them back on the shelf!
Good job I didn't bother to make a bill out in the end!
