Nosecone leak

So I just got done reinstalling my trans and propshaft and after a 400km test drive I notice my trans is pissing all over the place. I found the leak is coming from the decoupler where it connects to the propshaft. I had no leaks here before I remvoed the trans. So far I've taken off the propshaft and the front of the nose cone to have a look at the condition of the seal. I am now contemplating whether to replace the seal only or the seal and the bearing. The decoupler was bought new 10,000km ago so I would have thought the bearing is still ok? It appears to spin smoothly and I have no propshaft vibrations when driving in 2wd/4wd. Could it be my propshaft is not aligned and causing the leak?

hi bob im guessing here but a common prob with decouplers seems too be for some unknown reason
assemblers are using o-rings instead of rotaty shaft seals,o-rings being no good where moving parts are concerned
so you might want to wipp off your cone and have a closer inpection
if you have this:

you might want to replace with this
Image nominal size iirc is something like 12x18x5 but be sure to measure up....cheers :D

Hey xriss, thanks for oyur quick reply and nice tip on not using the o-rings. I'm fortunate enough to have the same seal you've pictured below. I've just picked up a new seal from a local bearing supplier and in the process of installing it. I'm just really surprised as to the leak because the old seal well.. it looks like new still and I guess it should as the decoupler is relatively new. I guess I'll just have to see how well the new seal fares. cheers mate :ok

Is the breather hole accidentally blocked after you refitted the nose unit? I recall Aidan saying something about faulty gaskets with no vent hole, the result is that the trans (when warmed up) pressurizes the case and the oil leaks out of the least tight shaft seal. Worth checking.
