Hi all,

Just bought a 1990 1.9d t25 at the weekend and i have intend to look after it as much as possible myself by doing as much work as i can. I am a complete novice when it comes to this so i have being studying the forums to garner as much information as possible. Going to start with an oil change at the weekend possibly if i get the chance. However what i really want is a layout of whats what. I have identified the usual components but not 100% sure on a few things. The coolant tank (the one you can see when you pull down the license plate) is completely empty so i will top that up tonight but a layout drawing to confirm what i think is the coolant tank would be a bit of a confidence booster. Want to go on my first adventure in a few days so just want to know she is ok lol.

You have an 'Alternative Engine' as VW never fitted a 1.9 d****l into the T25, if you obtain the engine number (1Y,AAZ prefix etc) people will be able to help you.

You'll need the Haynes manual for the Golf for the engine and a Trampspotter one for the van itself ... there isn't a d****l T25 Haynes .

Hi mate , chances are most of the original pipe work will be there
have a look in a bentley (VW) manual for the layout

Reading between the lines here...looks like you have a PETROL engined 1.9DG? I think he confused everyone by just putting 1.9D in the first post.

If so then there are two tanks...the top up 'expansion' tank that you can see behind the number plate (fill almost to the cap max line) AND
The main tank which is to the left rear side (remove the engine bay cover) this needs to be full to the brim (strong 50:50 mix of G12 or equivelent A/Freeze) depending on what's already in there.....
