I have a four speed box in mine from a 1.9 petrol and running a 2.0 ej20 and it works fine. Didnt think it mattered what box you had???

The T25 gearbox was built with different ratios to suit the different engines and applications they were intended for. The diesels usually have quite low gearing.
Low gearing will give you rapid acceleration, but high revs (and less mpg) at cruising speeds.
Have a look at RJES website , there is a chart with the differnt boxes and what sort of rpm/mph you will get.
http://www.rjes.com/html/gearbox_types.html
You can also have a T25 box rebuilt with higher ratios for 4rd & 4th (4th & 5th) , have a look at Aidan Talbots website.

Also remember you are about to more than double the power you are putting through a box that is already over 20 years old ......

Be prepared for the rebuild.

Double?? more like 4 times the power.. LOL.. it would be worth having the/a box rebiult with some suitable gearing BEFORE you fit the engine..

"more than double"....yep, covers four times etc etc ...

As Toomanytoys quite rightly says , if possible its best to get the box right to start with and Aidans your man for the job.
