sliding door curtains

hi all just a quick question are all curtains on a sliding door fitted with the wire top and bottom rather than curtain track ? ive just got new curtains and the drop is rather long so they need shortening otherwise they will catch on the sliding door runner panel when the doors opened or do you clever lot have a way round this ? cheers jeff
