Hi I fitted a new speedo cable and centre cap as the old cable was broken and the cap used to come off all the time so i got a new centre cap but this one also comes loose and my speedo stops working. My question is how do you keep the centre cap from working loose.

It has a small circlip that keeps it in place.

yes the circlip is on but the cap still comes loose.Someone told me i should load the cap with grease and that makes it stick but i don't know if that is true.

Give it a good tap with a hammer, I put an old socket over it so as not to damage the speedo cable end or circlip. If it still comes off, try "adjusting" the shape of the cover a bit (large hammer), make it a tiny bit oval, then tap it on :ok

I had the same trouble with the cap on the offside - A strip of shimming brass inside the cap and a tap with a FBH and it will never come off . (I don't know about when I want to get it off again though!)
