wires out

mmmnnnn...
accidentally pulled out 2 wires from bottom of thermostat
they go from the bottom of the thermostat housing into the engine bay -
and look 'improvised' (hard wired?) by previous owner -
they fit into small circular brown 'disc' 'holder' at bottom of thermostat -
2 red wires going into brown 'disc' -
these 2 red wires - going into brown holder/disc -
any ideas how i get the wires back in?
should the brown disc/holder come off with a twist?
would they effect the running of the van?
