1.9 DG Tappet confusion

Hi, can anyone confirm if the tappets on my 1.9 DG Watercooled need adjusting or not. I have successfully replaced the push rod tubes using the telescopic type so heads not removed. However I had to remove the rocker arms to pull the push rods out. So, my question is, if I haven't turned the engine over yet, can I simply put the rocker arms back on and fire it up or do they need to be adjusted? I was led to believe this engine had hydraulic lifters so no adjustment needed but others ( not on here) have told me I also need to adjust tappets. Don't want to cause any damage so asking for advise please. By the way I have put the push rods back in the same order they came out. As always advise is much appreciated so put my confusion to rest!!!
Cheers

Hello,
Yes the setting you had will be ok for startup.
Be very careful that you have got the pushrods in correctly. It is very easy for them not to sit in their 'cup' on the cam follower, instead off to one side.
Nip everything up, remove the plugs and turn the engine over by hand with a 24 mm socket in the fan. Any tightness will soon be noticed and rectified.
Once the engine has been run up, then drain the oil and allow to cool overnight,
Now set your rocker screws. I give mine contact + 1 turn.
Start at no 1, distributor pointing to no 1 plug lead.
turn engine 1/2 turn anticlockwise , do nr 2 and so on.
It costs nothing to check them twice.
It will rattle on start up, but will quit clattering within 5 mins or so.
Have fun.
Cordialement,
