h all, afer noticing a hot water anti freeze smell for a few days this morning i found water dripping down from the heater vents by the gear stick, does this mean the matrix is shot or are there rubber pipes that may be leaking ? cheers jeff

Could be either and whichever it is you'll still have to get in there

If you can pick one up cheap enough sure Jeff. I did that myself when I changed my fan blower (do consider fitting a new blower if the original is still in there - its under £40). I didn't need the matrix and sold it on, but it seems a sensible precaution. Just don't ignore the blower though or it may well come back to haunt you. As the dash needs lifting out, do the jobs you can only do once its out - fit new washer pipe too. Aquatic shops do it - cheap enough. You could also insulate underneath there too - helps cut down road noise and keep the heat in during the winter. Lots you can do with dash out including tidying up wiring, extending fusebox, cleaning earth crowns....
I'd give you a hand if weather was more favourable and I hadn't become a single parent overnight after years on my own.

How far are you into Yoyo land Jeff?
