Curtain Track

There looks like a lot of Q&As on here about curtain track but none that satisfies my needs.

I have a twin slider with plastic raildown the sides and across the back. The front rail is fixed to a wooden beam just behind the drivers seat. I wish to remove this as my head can't much more beating.

I have found the justkamper rail kit and also a reasonably cheap supplier of silent gliss.

What I cant find is how to fit the rails. Its the little details that confuse me, like how does it go round the door runner end, how does it work around the sun visors, how should the front curtain hang?

is there also a secret to make the curtains seal i.e velcro or magnets.
If anyone has photos that would be great

peter

The track will bend if you're careful. Gentle bends. Velcro best for keeping curtains joined together

fill the rails with the hooks/sliders before you bend it carefully,it will help nit to kink it.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm still looking for photos though.

Should the rail follow the side door slider?

how does it work around the sunvisors?

how does it sit on the windscreen?

On my present Autohomes van the track does follow the curvature of the sliding door. The flat part of the track that is normally screwed appears to have been slotted in and riveted towards the front. Note the track stops there and a new section over the cab door starts next to it.

On my old Leisuredrive however, the track was fixed on the flat section above the slider metalwork (best picture i have I'm afraid)

On the present van, the track over the cab doors and windscreen is fixed in front of the sun visors and rear view mirror; this means that the sun visors have to be in the lowered position to draw the curtains.

On the old van the track was fixed behind the sun visors and rear view mirror so the curtains could be closed with the visors either up or down, can just about make it out here; picture's a bit naff I'm afraid....

On the present van, the rear track is fixed to the top of the tailgate.
Image

Frankly I preferred the previous van's method of the track being fixed to the van just inside of the tailgate

A few of the curtains closed

Excellent. Exactly what I was looking for.

because I'm tight I will be using plastic all round except for the side above the cooker.

I would like a better way to do the cab drop, I'll have to think about that.

Thanks, you're a star

Glad I found this thread as I too have been meaning to find a suitable method of adding curtains.

Been looking at those stretch type though where the curtain has two rails on each window, a top rail, and a bottom one, and the curtain material is the strech kind, although expensive in kit form.

Dunno the specific name of the track but there are plenty of caravan/campervan suppliers on t'internet which stock similar if not the exact track.

I hired a campervan in NZ which had a track at the top and the bottom of the curtains. I couldn't get over how damn difficult they were to open and close and had to wrestle with them every night and morning of my holiday :x

The night before I was due to fly back I put on my glasses to check my tickets and flight times etc and noticed a little rocker switch on the wall marked 'Curtains'. Turns out they were electric and I had been forcing them open and shut for the best part of three weeks and no, the button didn't work when I tried it, just made them shudder a bit

Silent gliss 1021
http://www.silentgliss.co.uk/go/Product ... tion+/1021" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also Jusy kamper made a ceaper plastic rail to a similar design but has since dropped it for a rail without the fixing tongue and this is also out of stock when i checked (April 2012)

I have this silent gliss stuff and it is great. On track per window though. Dont try and join em as the things dont like to slide through very well. :D

Don't get one without the fixing tab they are a nightmare, I chucked mine out as the curtains kept sticking, I used a normal curtain rail back to front, just check your gliders fit.
