Roof bar options

Hello,

I have two roof racks at the moment, but need a bit of guidance.

All I want to carry is a ladder, and I don't want to increase the height of my van too much.

Option 1:
Keep this one and don't go into any car parks in Bristol (van currently fits under 6'6" restrictions

Option 2:
I have got a pair of these:

But the clamps aren't high enough to clear the roof. I though about bending the bars gently (by supporting them at either end on a couple of bricks and "gently" bouncing all of my 11.5 stone up and down until I got a gentle bend, and it clears the roof with a gentle arc (oops a few too many "gently"s there).

Ideas welcomed....

Hello Guz,

Space is the problem storing them when off the van is the problem. The big silver ones look a bit mincing, I thought if I bent the other pair it would look OK, maybe put a pair of those surfboard foam protectors on to make it look cooler.

Cheers,

Steve

Needed to carry some wood, so I put my roofbars between 2 bricks and jumped my 11.5 stone up and down on them!.....
