Is my side elevating roof missing something please?

Hello All, :D

I have done a search but cant find same problem so sorry if this has been answered before.

I have recently bought a T25 camper conversion but the roof will not stay up and weighs a ton to lift, we are scared to push it too high incase it goes too far (the plates and hinges are a bit rusty) and rips off the side! It appears to be based on a Devon but some one has put a photo of a Devon roof up but that has 4 struts and mine only has 2. Should it have 2 more does any one know please? I have put photos of either side and from the front. The frames seem to have more holes drilled in it - in the photos it is propped inside by a piece of wood :D

Thanks Dave Friday,

I may take you up on that offer. I will have to come in the T4 tho as the T25 doesnt appear able to move! Also its not road legal so even if it did move I wouldnt risk taking it out. :D

I also think there should be a fibreglass frame attached to the van roof.
I cant see one in the pics

Thanks for all your responses :D yesterday we managed to hold it higher and wedge it with a bigger piece of wood but it still wont stay up - at least it didnt fall over the other side tho! I got a photo of the existing struts but they are so old and manky i cant find any pressure capability info. I have taken a few more photos that may be clearer, or may point to it being defo like another so it will be obvious if parts arent there. The inside seems nearly all there, tho there is a bent pole coming from th ceiling that i dont think should be bent but havenñt a clue what it is for - the string attached is to hold aall my loose cables off the floor :D

Thanks for your time :D

It's a Danbury conversion. Absolutely identical to mine which came with the Danbury Badges still on. SGS engineering sell the gas struts but they sell two different varieties and, like you, the struts are too rusty to get the numbers off. If you find out which struts you need and where to get them, could you let me know. I will do some research and see what I can find out as I need to put new gas struts on ours ready for our August break.
