After fitting a 1.6td with the gtd pump the lid won't close so my question is rather than cutting an unsightly hole in it can i not just put spacer's between the engine bars and the chassis rail which will drop the engine, or would this cause problems.

thanks for looking Tony

I think Mr Baxter does a panel that you weld into your engine lid to create clearance

It doesn't need welding there is a spacer and riveted plate that is very neat if you have the modified throttle levers.

I have the ugly folded tin variety which is about 3 inches high, it does the job and you cant feel it under the bed, if you want mine for free I'll swap you if yours is a plastic hatch.

yes, on the rare occasions when my wife has to venture in to the dark noisy cupboard under the bed she struggles with the weight of the metal one.

ah i see , good that you have her checking the fluids andf such , always handy when men havbe more important duties to attend to :rollin
I have both and am unsure which to use, theory being the metal one is more fireproof though if it got to that stage it would be irrelevant but also maybe better soundproofing than the plaggy
