Well I'm excited as Marion's finished making all the rear bed/seat covers, and they're brilliant (especially for someone who hasn't made any before - with piping!)
Amazing as you'd think it's simple making them (in theory), but after you take into account the netting, extra padding and all the fiddly bits it kinda gets more and more complicated (plus we added a bit of length to the bed so needed to make up a new foam pad)

We have next week off so we're going to spend it traveling along the south coast - weather not looking great but our new/old awning will be quite handy!

Nice job.

It was about 8m worth of fabric plus the piping.

The width of our bed is 135mm.

Cost completely depends on the fabric! We spent about £120 on fabric, plus piping cord, thread, zips… so about £150 (plus all the hours making them)

I think the trickiest bit was getting the stripes to line up properly for each cushion. And then when sewing on the piping it was tricky making sure the cover fabric didn't gather up and look crinkled - not only does that look rubbish but it also reduces the length of the fabric you're sewing, so it messes up the stripes (because the front and side of the cushion are one seperate piece, then two seperate pieces on the rear to attach the zip)

I've just bought the book.... at £4.56

I would really like to 'freshen up' the cushions.

I have an electric sewing machine, I shall be using a hard wearing cotton mix fabric, any suggestions.

I'm unexperienced on the machine but I'll give it a learn

Very nice, well done and a tidy saving on professional price but it still looks great!! Do u buy piping already made with a bead and a flap and just see it in between each piec of material?? Thnkx.

Nope - The piping is basically string (varies in size depending on taste), which you sew into the flap of fabric (about 1.5 inches wide and as long as you need to run around the cushion) which you then sew onto the seperate sides of the cushion. To make things easier you can use a piping foot for the machine, but we got away without using one.

Thanks- a piping foot- sounds a bit like a Lancashire dish ! Hot pot/foot sort of thing, I'd always assumed piping was ready made but it makes sense what u say otherwise there would have to be thousands of different pipings. Cheers.

Piping can come ready-made or you can make it yourself - depends if you can find what you want! I chose the DIY version...
