Hello, can anyone tell me exactly what we need in order to tow a trailer? What are the legal requirements and what bits of equipment do we need? ? We have a T25 and are thinking of buying the Erde 102 trailer from Halfords. Im assuming we have to also buy some sort of electrical connection for indicators and a light board? Can anyone advise us, Id be very grateful. Many thanks. Also, what are T25 like for towing?
Nicky

Well theT25 will have no problem pulling a tiny trailer, reversing can be interesting with a tiny trailer as you cant see it. you will need a tow bar and and electrical tow socket, these can be retro fitted to the existing wiring by splicing into the existing lighting wires, I have yet to have seen this done neatly, (would be nice to have a piggy back connection for the existing lighting wiring loom, not sure if such a thing exists though!) bare in mind that towbars and electrics are now MOT testable. A good trailer would have indicators and stop lights built in so you don't need a light board, oh and of course you need another number plate.
Have a shop around Halfords may not be the cheapest! Try and get a cover with it, the ABS lockable jobs are the best but a bit pricey

It is definitely worth fitting a rearview camera to cover a trailer - I regularly tow an 8 ft dinghy and cannot see it at all without a camera.

Many thanks for all the advice. Now am a happy trailer owner with all the right equipment. Just need a few practice sessions before Vanwest in a couple of weeks time. :? :!:

Oh dear got a problem. Just had a tow bar fitted to our T25 and bought a new Erde 102 trailer. Went to try it out this afternoon only to find the tow bar ball bit is too big for the trailer hitch. I thought they were universal fittings? It this something that is easily rectified? Do the ball bit come in different sizes? Im assuming the place where we had it fitted, bought the tow bar from Just Kampers. It seems to me thta only the plate that the ball bit is attached to needs to be changed. Am I right in that? And can different sizes be purchased? Please advise

I thought that the small balls had been phased out. I had to have one for a hitch that I had once, current balls are 50mm and the small ones were possibly around 38 or 40mm. I think I may still have one at the bottom of my scrap/useful bits of metal pile.
The specs for that trailer say it is a 50mm ball - are you sure that you have released the catch fully before/as you are putting it on?

Unless your gonna weight it down I would steer clear of those rip of trailers they bounce like crazy when empty!!!!
