hi all ,
ive just bought a new luxor 12v/240v tv from asda and will be hoping to run it off my lesure batt ,i know i will have to get a 12v ciggi lead for it but i was wondering what people do for an arial ? ie amplified ,or one on a pole ect

We have a 12V TV/DVD flip down unit we got on ebay from Asia. With this I have a 240v freeview box (8.00 on ebay) and then a 240v Amplified aerial (£19.99 on ebay)... it works an absolute dream. We run the box and aerial from the mains and the unit runs from the leisure battery, sound goes through to the stereo via a fm signal from the unit, I have a switch on the dash that changes the stereo's power supply from the main battery to the leisure battery therefore theres no drain on the starter battery.

thanks for your replys ,im begining to wish i hadnt bought this particular tv now as looking into it a bit more im worried about - power consumption its a cat B and not A and also regulating the voltage to the tv as the lesuire bat can go from about 11v when low and up to about 14 v i think , after looking on amazon for a voltage regulator ive seen a nice odys tv that is designed specificly for vans and boats at £200 ,might have to take it back to asda it cost me £114 so paying a bit extra might be the way,unless anyone else out there is running a tv similar to mine with no isues ? its a 19" luxor led tv

bit of an update ,i have gone out and bought a 19" cello 12v tv dvd combo from ebay company is called AC/DC it was £200 quid ,it is specialy desighned for motorhomes and caravans ,mounted it this evening on a flip down bracket from the same people ,i will post a pic when i get time ,we are on our first trip away this weekend to croyde so will let you know how i get on with reception etc ,

This is what I did
16 inch tv from asda on offer for 90 quid
Portable satellite system from Aldi for 55 quid.
Setting it up the first time is so frustrating I wanted to chuck the whole thing into the loch. Set up times since have got much better and now I can often do the whole thing ( unpacking to watching ) in less tha 15 mins......
Advantages of free satellite
It's free
It's always available wherever you are in the uk

Disadvantages
Picture quality is not quite as good as free view/ sky
My daughter insists on watching Popgirl ( believe me if u haven't seen
It you don't want to )
Bit more stowage space needed.

We have been looking at getting a portable satellite system (for those "occasional" rainy days / nights ) and have been looking at the Aldi ones plus the Maplin ones and this one that I like the sound of = http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Caravan-Satel ... 230f74b41c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; because in the blurb they sound pretty professional.

Question = Despite reading stuff I cannot determine if these are just FreeSat or can you take your home receiver's card with you and get all your normal subscription channels (Films and Sport) as well ?

No the Triax SR110 has no card slot. FTA only.
