Odd gearbox plug query, picture. Aiden?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can assist with this query.
I am changing the gearbox oil on my 1915DG 4 speed van. Am going to use the Comma oil recommended on here (although have just read that the Wilco stuff is correct, and alot cheaper!) :x (Im understand that the '80' oil is replaced nowadays by 75/90 GL4 for my gearbox?)
Image

When I took out the gearbox drain plug (having taken out the filler plug first) it only had a small trace of 'fir tree' wear - which I gather is ok?
Image

Now, when I cleaned of the oil from the plug and examined it, I found what I THOUGHT was part of a damage O-ring at the base of the magnetic rod:
Image

It was actually metallic and looked like a piece of a washer, the sort of 'push on' washer that grips the metal rod?
Image

Anyone know what this bit is that is broken? The magnetic rod is secure in the drain plug. And the tiny piece of the 'washer' that is still at the bottom of the rod, is solidly attached to it/or the base of plug....
Thanks in advance
Jonathan - with a van on the drive with no gearbox oil in it - yet! :ok

don't know what it is but it's not a normal part of the gearbox, I wouldn't worry, plug is nice and clean that's a well maintained gearbox

It looks like 'Devcon' plastic steel epoxy putty to me. Most probably used to hold the magnet in place.

thanks for the prompt reply, I can get on with putting in the new oil in the morning.
If in doubt, ask an expert... :D

Yes it's a tad thinner when cold and Semi sympathetic so will perform better across a wider heat range...basically superior to a straight 80.
The general benefits are smoother gear changes when cold and better overall protection.
