O/S door questions. How to.

I'm going to attempt to strip down drivers door, fix locking mechanism and replace window winder. Do I need a cutter, welder or fabricator. It looks almost impossible to strip without cutting, is this the case? Would like a window I can use this summer. I've done video's before now and been taken to stock on methods used on other jobs. Can I have a tip on where to start at the start or will someone wait until I've ballsed it up?

Everything inside the door is removeable. They are just held in with bolts.
Somewhere on here is a member offering the bentley manual which would come in handy if you got it.
I recently fitted a new passenger door and removed everything from the old door and fitted it to the new
Start by removing the window seals, then remove the glass (it unbolts then lifts off the lifter and does come out), then remove the window lifter (two bolts by the winder handle, then two bolts holding in the lifter, one is under the door)
Just a tip of the glass does not line up after refitting you can reposition it in the holder and it's just wedged in with a rubber seal
Good luck. And get the bentley

Been a very long time since I did one but if memory serves me right, you need to unbolt main glass from the horizontal bar (remove doorcard to gain access), lower the glass down inside door, at which point you can unbolt quarterlight and remove it, followed by main glass and winder mech as with quarterlight out you'll have more room. Its along those lines anyway. Similar for Beetles too.
