T25 body work advice

As a newbie to this forum first I would like to say hi to everyone.
I have been reading posts from the sidelines but went to look at my first T25 Pop Top last night, after viewing a Gipsy the other week. I am hoping to make my way into van ownership sometime soon.
I just wanted to get a bit of advice from some of you experienced owners, based on the van I saw last night. I hope you do not mind.
Basically the van had some surface rust on some of the panels joins, it did not look to deep but were the sliding door slides back and latches, on the corner where that pillar meets the sill, the rust has taken a good hold with it almost being through the metal. The area is about 5cm long on the curve. Is this a big job to sort?
Also the floor panels below the rear air vents are holed, on both sides but the chassis looks fine. Should I be worried about this?
The engine is a 1.9 Petrol on a 4 speed box, are these economical and reliable?
And finally, few you say, the interior wall carpets, roof carpets and rear seats need either a good clean or replacing, is this a hard job?
Many thanks Jon
