Oil Feed & Exhaust Westy 1.6 TD?

Hi All,

Hope a new thread was ok :)

I have been getting oil spots on the tailgate of my 86 Westy TD. It seems to be coming from the pipe that comes from the turbo. Now before I go ordering a new one (as it looks like its past it) I wanted to check that Im going to order the right thing!

So, the pipe that goes from the bottom of the enging to the turbo is the oil feed pipe right? As in this one here?

Also, I am due a new exhaust and a family member who works for Bosal has said he can get any full system for £12.50! I have a receipt in the van documentation for an engine replacement. It says 1.6TD jx. Can anyone point me to the right exhaust system for that so I can tell him what sort he needs to order?

Apologies in advance for my useless mechanical knowledge and many thanks for any help or advice!! :)

No the one in the link to just campers is the turbo feed pipe that goes inside the engine bay from the oil filter housing to the top of the turbo. The return which is under the engine goes from the turbo to the sump and is a short flexible pipe.

If you can get exhausts for £12.50 it might be worth ordering a few sets!
There are early and late diesel exhausts depends on the year of your van.
heres the early one

(E D I T sorry I just saw its an 86 year)
"Late system means that where the downpipe meets the silencer it is attached by means of a 3 bolt flange and sealing ring (olive)"

Early systems have a sleeve fitting where the downpipe meets the silencer,

Early type Bosal exhaust part No's (Sleeve Type);

Downpipe - 785-497 / Silencer - 233-497 / Tail Pipe - 334-497

Late type Bosal exhaust part No's (Bolt on Type);

Downpipe - 787-673 / Silencer - 233-525 / Tail Pipe - 334-499

I'm up for a £12.50 exhaust too :)

Im ordering the oil return today. Simply a case of removing the old and fitting the new? I imagine its pretty messy!

Hi, probably best to drain the oil and have replacement standing by. And if your doing that you may as well change the filter as well. Get a big oil drain pan.
