Which 12Volt Telly/DVD Player?

As a result of the death of my current tv/dvd player (Nextbase, model no longer in production) I'm on the hunt for a new set, 11 to 15 inch screen if possible and must be able to use as a dvd player whilst on the move. Any recommendations? And before anyone says it, no, I didn't have a telly in the car either when I was a lad, and I got by just fine. We don't carry computer games and the likes for our kids either, but I do like to relax in front of the telly occasionally and catch up on the daily news, question time, and er...Neighbours and NCIS!

Is it an LED screen and do you have to sit facing it straight on to get a good picture? My old telly was an LCD screen and you could view it from just about any angle.

No it's an LCD. Frankly I'm not sure about viewing it from different angles as I always position it so it's facing me...certainly I haven't perceived anything from side on viewing; have noticed screen darkens/lightens slightly if you are under or above being perpendicular to the screen, but side to side no, nothing.

Currys essentials LED backlit LCD TV and DVD combi says 16inch on the box but its a 15inch, £100 or so. No mention of 12volt on the box but it is you just need to make a lead or buy one from the likes of maplins. we bought one last month.

Ebuyer are doing a 15" led 12v that fits your bill. I bought it. Have to say the viewing angle is pants compared to a LCD screen - but it's dead light and has all the latest tricks on it.
It I the cello model and I got it for £125 delivered.

Thanks to all for your replies. Funnily enough, the inlaws bought the Bairns a Curries Essentials telly each at Christmas. I did consider sorting out a lead and trying one out in the van. I'll give it a try at the weekend. I see that the Ideal Word channel are now selling Cello tellies on their website. If I had the money I'd probably go for an Avtex unit but money's tight at the moment (isn't always). I'll keep looking and let you know how I get on.

I just bought kogan 16 inch hd led / free view/ DVD/ USB to record or pause and rewind tv £89 free delivery direct from their website. 16 inch seems to be the smallest they do. Picture great quality although not 100% if you are not directly in front of screen. Comes with mains lead ( extra £9 for 12 volt lead)

Same here, My Daughter had one off her Gran for Xmas so i tried it in our van and went and got one.
I opted for the bigger one for the van though (19" I think) but the smaller one would be fine, definately work on 12v too.

Nice one. I played a DVD on the Bairn's telly today and gave it a good shake about and it didn't have any effect on the picture. With the bumpy road simulation test passed (!?) I'll get myself a 12 volt lead (might be one in the shed) and try it out in the van. I did consider a Kogan as it seemed to be good value, and also a Meos, via the Ideal World channel (mistake made earlier. They sell Meos and not Cello) but I might stick with the Currie's one. That Asda telly looks OK but is it 12 Volt?.

It comes with a 230 to 12Volt transformer which plugs into the back of the telly, so I would imagine so. I'm going to give it a try when I get a minute. I think It was mentioned further up the thread that it's been tried.
