I used summat like this to repair my awning.(A piece on top and a piece under the rip) When i put the top edge of the sliding door through it.

That's exactly what I did
Cheers for the heads up on the repair patches, just got to find some in cream now = "period" 80's brown and cream awning, canvas with nylon awning to van flap (ripped) = heavy and a swine to put up, oh and to dry out

Might sell or swap it for a modern one actually !

Top tip for stopping the slider doing this again is to put a short section of broom handle in the bottom track to stop the door opening fully
Cheers

For a professional repair try 'Tent hire direct' not far from j10 M6 in walsall (
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/TENTHIRE-LTD-DIRECT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) could only find a link to their ebay store...the phone number is in the blurb and they are really helpful - they know loads about camping gear and a visit to the shop is an eyeopener (i swear, its a tardis!)

Thanks all for replies
I think i will try Dirtygerties place as its gone from the seam where the main tent part joins the piece that attaches to the van and is under a bit of tension when erected
will post how i get on.

I just my slider through my brand new khyam motordome. GUTTED. It may not work for yours, but I'm thinking of buying some of this to fix it. Wish I'd have known about the broom handle tip before
