Boris the camper is still not on the road and to be honest patience is running thin! Problem... Starts first time, always splutters badly then off we go.... You seem to have to "drive" through the spluttering, then when you think its getting there he loses power and stops
Had various bits done but now just left with carb, too many people who are not really experts have come up with so many ideas its mind boggling, it seems that the carb is a single weber, not sure what it would have had originally its a A reg 83 t25 transporter, thats my first question, secondly should i get the carb refurbed if so how much woukd i expect to pay? And lastly where the hek do i buy another one?? I have check internet and unless im not looking in the right places im stuggling
Please help he needs to be on the road this year... This is the last piece of the puzzle so to speak
Thanks guys xx

Classic symptoms of a blocked jet.

Fitted with which type of engine ?

No, Webbers are well known for being "less than ideal" on all the flat 4 engines.

My advice = you don't
Buy a used carb that was original equipment on your engine (let us know which and one of us will tell you what carb you should have) Use any cash left over to have it serviced (Gasure in Chester and Grantham have a good reputation (google them)),

Hi Jude.
In theory, being a 1984 A reg T25, I presume that your van has the 1915cc Water cooled engine fitted?...(unless this has been changed over the years, or your van was one of the very last air cooled vans leftover with a dealership that was registered in 1984?)
The standard carb fitted to the 1915cc water cooled engine would have been a pierburg single carb.
If your van has a webber carb fitted, this is likely to be a retro webber conversion...quite common, but IMO, not a very good solution.
I have had vans with a webber carb conversions in the past, and I normally recommend putting them back to factory standard, and replace the webber with a Pierburg carb.
If you check ebay for a T25 pierburg carb, you should find one...Although the same carbs were used in other VW products of the time, like the Golf and the Passat.
If you are really struggling, let me know...If probably got one, but I would have to check.
Cheers
Andy

The standard carb while now ancient is a perfectly fine piece of kit .... it's the stock answer for young spanner monkeys who once deprived of their plug-in diagnostics to recommend swapping the carb for a Webber. Try a search here and you'll see a trail of woe mostly leading to the door of Just Krappers and their abysmal Webber carbs.
Get a pre-loved Pierburg and clean inline fuel filter and all should be well.
