Van Wont Start:(

Hi All

Looking for common suspects to look at before fault tracing.

Symptoms:

Over the past few months the van wont always start first turn, but wil 3rd or 4th turn. when I say wont start there is not even a click. battery is showing just over 12v on the voltmeter.

Sunday it stopped making any attemp to start.

Starter was renovated and bench tested this year by the father inlaw who was an auto sparks by trade.

Havnt looked at it but suspect either ign. switch as you can sometimes catch it by turning the key harder - is this common??

Could also be loose wires on solenoid?

Any other common issues - relays etc I should look at!?

Thanks in advance, Tom

Your battery is flat if it is only just over 12v - it is fully charged @ 12.7v (after standing 24hr after charging). That should be your first thing on your list.

Tis strange how we refer to car vehicle systems as being 12 volts and batteries in particular. 12 volts as Oldie but goodie explained is not fully charged (depending on battery type and temperature 12 volts is about 50% charged)

And of course once running everything is recieving around 14 volts (alternator regulated)

FYI, Ignition switches do go faulty on these vans....but as yours is fine now.
