Leaky seal

Good afternoon all,
I had the van into the garage for MOT and new cam belt. While the belt was off the garage noted that the oil seal was weeping slightly and would I like too have it replaced while everything was off anyway as only £20 for the seal kit (seemed to make sense). Drive home and half a litre of oil under the van. I have taken it back to the garage and they put their hands up no problems there, it is back in tomorrow to get it put right. The question is has any one had problems with this seal ( the one above the oil level )i'm just wondering if it is a duff seal or just not fitted correctly or maybe it got chewed up when the motor first started. The van is a 1.6td JX engine. as stated the garage has said they will sort it and he seems like a honest bloke who has 2 T25s himself, I feel it was just a bit unfortunate. just for my own interest really.

Not sure really... . they noticed it was weeping when changing the cam belt if that helps? no need to drain the oil down as it is situated above the oil level and I think the seal just 'pops' into position. Apparently the kit comes complete with a tube to fit it that then pulls out after fitting. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
