Basically i want a diesel Rhd syncro. Pref with rear diff lock.

I have a decent budget now. + some extra to make it how i want it.
Many lhd are available but i cant find any half decent rhds for sale.

Because tbh.The threads read that way. :) Im pretty certain one or two on here have had the same thoughts.I believe your genuine.But like i said.From reading this.One could come to that conclusion.I hope you find what your looking for sooner than later :wink:

I get what your saying.

I initally said i wanted a rhd. But then many people said go for lhd, eventhough i said i jave never driven one and wasnt to comfortable in the thought of driving a lefty.

I then was flirting with the idea of buyinf a lefty, as my budget was lower. But now that its decent i think i am able to get a good one.

The rhd ones that i have seen up on the net are either way out of my budget, not what im looking for or needs a LOT of work.

Like i said before a t25/t3 type. Like the caravelle or transporter or multivan.

I love it. Ive looked at it before. But its petrol. And i want diesel. And to convert is too expensive.

Fair enough, but if you can't afford a TDi, 2.1's are a nice drive. What sort of mileage will you be doing a year? Sole vehicle?

Sole vehicle and per year less than 5,000 miles but will be alot more later on.

Both my T25's are LHD.... (but I have lived and worked in Europe for over 17 years..)

Many have thought they cant cope with a lhd, but after trying one they agree that it isnt an issue.. coz it isnt really... it doesnt take days, weeks, months to get used to it.. after 30 mins you'll wonder why you were worried..

I'll give an example..
the wife only passed her test 2 and a bit years ago.. (never really needed to drive so hadn't bothered to learn)... 6 weeks after she passed and had been driving her own car in the uk.. we went to France and she volanteered to drive my old Audi 100 (lhd) to and from a friends so I could have a drink.. she took about 5 mins to feel comfortable in daylight and drove back in the dark..... bare in mind she had never driven that car ever and either of the T25's for more than 5 minutes, in a field..

Get yourself over to the Shipston event.. :wink: you can have a drive of mine in a perfectly safe environment.. :ok :ok then at least you can say.. "i've driven a lhd, it wasnt as bad as I thought"

5000 miles is not much... a petrol wouldnt be so bad and can put it on LPG once you've got used to it and then have = to diesel running costs...

I suppose without getting in and driving one i dont know.

But to convert to lpg wont that cost at least £1500 to do?

Yes I know.. numbers might not be totally accurate.. so anyone chip in with some numbers, if you want......

Petrol and LPG are what I paid local to me.. guess on D as I havent bought any in 5 months... (I think it was actually more than 1.42 locally) LPG MPG accounts for the expected loss (actually less of a loss than that on my instalations.. I get 19mpg not driving particularly economically) LPG conversion depending on what setup etc around 1000-1300 quid.. (yes, someone will come up with reasons why not, but its suits a lot of peeps at shipston you could see several too)
D mpg was from what someone told me they were getting from a 1.6TD...

petrol Diesel LPG
mpg 23 33 20
perL 1.36 1.42 0.78
P per M 0.27 0.20 0.18
5000 £1342.26 £976.79 £885.30
10000 £2684.52 £1953.58 £1770.60

As you can see the LPG conversion could be paid for in 15000 miles..

The difference is a quid a day on them numbers.. ok so 365 quid a year is a nice lump if someone gave it to in one go.. but if you cant afford that then you really dont want to be getting into a syncro (or anything as old) as 365 quid wont go far on any repairs....

So in all diesel is the best way to go. Which ive been looking for.
I dont want to send another grand on lpging it. When i can get a diesel.

Why isnt anyone selling a rhd diesel then?
