Oddly enough I got prices on copies of the VW hinges with swivels. They would be very, very similar to the originals and for a run of 10 sets they would work out at ...

€200 a set!

Is it too late for me to order/request a RHS wheel carrier? MoT passed with the MT's, so I'll be selling the 14" alloys (soon) and need a new place to put the 15" spare.

No not too late I will be getting an initial batch of ten sets made up (I.e.) left and right a set will work out slightly cheaper than buying two carriers and the carriers will be made with the view of being able to either carrying a wheel or the addition of a gerry can holder, a highlift jack, waffle boards etc when I get the costings I shall be asking for a deposit on orders (will be first come first served) to help cover material costs and have them for collection at syncropendence should have costs after France I.e the middle of May

So did you manage to get hold of him Paul ?
Any news on the hinges ? _ could atleast knock up the rest if you have managed to get them made.
I'm running out of time and got a long list of things to sort on the syncro before heading upto the arctic circle this summer 8)
Cheers

I'd be interested subject to price for a left hand one. I've been looking at either one of the Syncro-nutz ones or another similar german copy of the VW original.

Depending on the price for a pair I want a right hand one most, so we could come to an arrangement!

Is the dipping down on the left quite allot one of the tweaks?

I feel your pain getting anyone to make something for you and the amount of emails you need to send and the amount of visits and fitting to get things absolutely spot on and right, its a right hassle. We recently developed a Westfalia bed guard and it took literally months to try and find someone to supply and bend the tube (I didn't even know there was a difference between tube and pipe before I started) then got so messed around I bought a tube bender to do it myself in the end. The only time things take ages or go slightly wrong is when you have to rely on others I have found then you have to wait for the tweaks to be ironed out and that then takes for ages again then if your dealing with different people doing different parts then times that by 10. Looking back through the thread no wonder you missed the opportunity for people to pick up your product at Syncropendence.

I bet Baxter has a nightmare sorting out all his stuff to get it ready for people to buy and it all field tested to sell retail.

Progress is being made in its early stages with you carrier though :ok

Yes, think Paul's getting to grips now with the immense amount of time that goes into the whole process of design, specification, sourcing and manufacture of even simple products. Not sure if this isn't going to be more of a 'club purchase' target price because a commercial reality would be a good few hundred bucks for something like that, made to a good standard.

As for tube and pipe Jed, it was a real hoot in the pub if someone reckoned their hang glider was made out of aluminium 'pipe' :D

It's only of course a 'convention' that tube is structural and pipes carry fluids as pipes also have structural requirements and of course, we don't squeeze our toothpaste out of pipes  so it's not the English language decreeing a concrete definition.
After that maybe the next thing then is to get a grip (sic) on seamless die-mandrel extruded tube - Versus - port die extruded .. big difference ... in price and application.

NB. Believe Paul told me that someone sat on his Ortec once when it was swung out, might explain the slight 'set' it's acquired
