metalics wont work properly , the metalic bits need to be sprayed so it lays down evenly

Plus they're virtually Humbrol sized

On a serious note, rubbing down a t25 takes exactly the same time as sandpapering an elephant down to a daschund (ok, maybe approximately)!!

Not really, unless you've got a good deal of bodyfilling to do. Fastest way is with an old green scourer if you just want a key for the paint to grip to. To be fair though, prep is always the biggest job even with a spray job. Nothing worse than painting and then finding it peeling off in sheets cos it wasn't roughened up. Wet n dry isn't too bad with a little washing up liquid in the water for lube.

Be easier with a F.o.r.d Anglia though

Well I got my tin yesterday,

Im in 2 minds now ive waxed the van, but tbh the 2 rear panels are shyte anyway, so im gonna test it on them for colour match (will replace them someday next year anyway). If thats good, then the whole bottom half gets rollered i reckon.

The beauty of this for me is that you can do it bit by bit.

I invented a new game today. I've named it so as to be self explanatory: 'Do another coat of paint on the van at dusk on a main road wearing dark clothes and try not to get killed while not wasting the paint and your time'. Not very catchy I know, so 'kamikaze rollering' is the shortened version.

I can't wait to see how bad a job I've done in the morning!

hehehe I am playing a version of that game called:-
"rub the van down in the dark then cringe in the morning at all the missed bits!"

I'm nearly on level 2 which is called:-
"Roller in the dark then re-roller in the day" hehe

Wait till you get to level 3 then - "Rollering with a blindfold"

On the upside you guys need no help from me now. You will have mastered the feel and technique by now. I rather enjoy doing it. Came back from Suffolk after driving down very tight lanes with brambles and had a few marks to deal with. Roller soon took them out and in the process it put another layer on the bus ready for the winter.

I'm very pleased with my results after this mornings inspection. One little patch of orange peel but it's under the lower grill anyway. Even managed to do my handles and my new Corrado mirrors well!

Started to paint bits of my jan at the weekend looks good so far infact I used hammerite undercoat on some of the bare panel and that does not roll out very well leaves an oragne peel finish which required mort after prep than the top coat!

Started painting a rear wing tonight.
Cant say im that impressed, perhaps I thinned it too much, but it seems very opaque (was condensed milk consistency), and the colour isnt quite the same (I know it wasnt likley, but I hoped it would be closer.

Now im at the crossroads, do the whole van, , (which hasnt got a terrible paint job),considered the bottom half, but on reflection this will look shyte, or fork out for a good colour match spray on top of the tin of this I have.

You need more than one coat, probably need 3
I will be going from blue to white (top of van), so I expect about 3-4 coats to totally hide the blue.

Yep, don't worry if it looks opaque. You can't paint it with one coat. Main thing is getting smooth finish - ready for next coat.

just been out to check it. Tell you what...its settled flat nicely.
Its an orange van under orange street lights, so the colour looks better

Right............. heres a question for you all

The colour isnt quite right, it needs some extra red and a bit of brown (i paint a lot, so have an eye for these things, and reckon I can match it with the RAL2000 base I have)
The colour to match is Brilliant Orange BTW

Now, what do you think I can mix it with ? I was considering the humbrol model enamels you use for model making. But not being a chemist im not sure it will contain the same solvents etc.
