"Jesus you just hit the side of that tree" the reply was, "yeh I though I felt something"

CRUNCH!!!! "what was that?, Ahhh its OK he just reversed into a tree"

One thing you didnt hear is, could we swing past a petrol station as we could do with some fuel

Im not looking for a pristine vw. Im looking for a mechanically sound and good body work. I dont mind if it has scrapes dings or dents as log as it isnt a sive and plates welded everywhere. I actually want a vw that looks a bit beaten up!:)

I can tig weld ,mig weld, spot weld. There the ones im good at. i have fabricated new door skins. Floor framework for my old camper.
At the risk of being patronising...OK, so what's the problem with a van that needs a bit of bodywork doing? If you've made door skins before then something like a lower skin repair to a sliding door shouldn't be a big deal. If you're as skilled as you make out for your modest years then you'd have bought a van and be halfway to having it finished for the summer by now. Then again being taught and actually doing the job is another kettle of fish entirely.

Mine's not a sieve or plates everywhere...warty, scarred and with stress incontinence maybe

You can't have "good bodywork" and "beaten up", they are mutually exclusive terms!

I can do the work but i dont want to. I want one that i can just get in and drive. And not worry about it for 6months. Bodywork wise.

My thinking of good body work must then differ from yours. To me beaten up and a rust bucket that needs alot of welding which has had plates everywhere are two very different thins.

Beaten up is dings scrapes dents generaly looking tatty. But not rusty or patched everywhere. And i know that is possible.

Has anyone shipped a vw from south africa to the uk?

Ive been trying to look up companies on the net but most dont ship from there.

Does anyone know how much it would cost?

Have you priced up a syncro in SA?? they are never cheaper than here... shipping container is about 1500 quid and then you'll have to add import duty... VAT etc etc....
Are you going to go look at it before buying?? thats another 1500 quid...

Loads of vans have been suggested to you. a lot closer to home... :ok :ok

its cost prohibitive to bring one (or anything) back.
criticism is due to you changing your mind all the time, thoughts dont have to be typed out. you say you will get a lhd, even say your getting one, then me or others post them up and then you say you only want rhd :? people are willing to help you, but you need to make up your mind a bit better. Just be prepared for a long wait for a white hooker (haha meant right hooker :rofl )
