Nice one mate

I've just read through the whole lot and am in awe of your work. So decided to pull me finger out and start saving my old rust bucket.

One question please concerning headlining. Can it be completely removed and refitted without damaging the material? From your pictures it looks as if its attached to a frame of some kind. I need to repaint surrounding area and thought removal instead of masking might make sense.

is it just the cab area you have? it could be done. i just wanted to change mine as it was manky. you need to take the windscreen out and you have lots of little tabs, about 20mm long with a gap inbetween them all along the side and along the back. gently prize the tabs down and then you will have to unstick it from the windscreen. be careful as the tabs are sharp and could easily rip it. failing that, a brand new one is only 60 quid delivered and has already got the loops stitched in and the tag on the rear to hook it in.

Hi, your van looks fantastic, great choice of colours. I am in southampton too, can you please let me know which bodyshop you used? There are a few bits of rust on my van need sorting out and your place look like they have done a great job. Also where you got your seats/bed/doorcards done, and what sort of cost? I am saving up to get our van into better condition, I would love to strip it back an start from scratch like you have but strapped for cash so will have to do bits at a time. And everytime I do something I find another bodge job from the previous owners

sorry, didnt notice your message.
i had the work done at a garage in bishopstoke called tip top. the welding and repairs were great. the trimmer, as mike has said is the canines gonads to be polite. trojan trimming is the company and the guys name is mike 07747156476. leave a message and he will get back to ya as he is pretty busy. if you are strapped he will probably trim things for you as you want them/ save up. i bought the door cards and the 5 bits of foam and he supplied all the rest and did it for about 850 i think. i would get all the body done first before you start shelling out on the inside. just make sure you can use it and keep the time you cant down to a minimum.
i still havent got a cooker or sink in mine as i ran out of dosh ages ago. £30 camping stove/ grill and a washing up bowl and ya sorted. good luck, dont get dispondent with it and any probs just ask in the correct forum and you will get an answer.

I dont know what you do for a job, but you should be a pro trimmer!
I have a lot of work to do on mine like this, and I think Ill be doing a 'progress report', keep up the work and keep the pics coming mate.

Where did you get your LED lights from? I must admit I dread ordering from hongkong eBay lol but ill use the same seller if you can provide the info?

thankyou mate. done nothing to it for a while now. been all covered up in the drive as i have been so busy. cant find the seller but they are all pretty much the same. all my ones were 600mm long with 30 led's in em. managed to get 6 strips delivered for about a tenner for the lot. just search through and find the cheapest. make sure you pick the right colour though

Will do buddy - I just have this lack of trust buying from abroad on eBay (I been ripped off enough just by UK sellers lol)

Fitted this today so i can plug the bus in for various reasons,been meaning to do it for ages. Going to be well handy,

Fitted the mainsboard today as well while i was on a mission, the keen eyed among you will see that they are single pole breakers but i dont care. had the board for ages and it fits well,

just got to sort out his mate next door now, gonna leave it to a pro i think

got the orange light on the zig working now, never seen it on before so was a bit of a fingers crossed moment. will fit the socket tomorrow as i didnt have one, must have one somewhere and am refusing to buy one.

enjoyed working on it today so going to start to put some effort in to finish it.

One hell of an awesome build. Love what you have done.....certainly inspired me.

Nah, the avatar is a photoshopped version of my camper. It was a "what would it look like if I did this".
It is completely standard at the mo.
I hope to give it a new lease of life like you have done.

wooow! looks ace, me and my boyfriend are doing a 1980 devon at the moment and this has gave us a kick up the bum to get it done!
were did you get the replacement roof canvas from? is it a perfect fit, did you have any problems with it and how easy was it to fit?

im sure ive read somewere that they call the roof canvas 'bellows' but dont take my word for it

Thanks for the comments. I take it you are lucky enough to have metal rear vents then. They look well sweet.
I got it from proud to pop and it fit perfectly. It was easy to fit as i took my time and was inventive with the way I did it. The roof was off of the van when i attached the top of the bellows which was the main reason for it being easier as you can get right in without it going really tight. You will find out what i mean when you try and get the four million screws out. Any questions just ask.

i thought it looked like the ones off proud to be pop top, thats were i was looking but as i hadnt seen any reviews i didnt no weather to risk using them! so im glad to fianlly find someone else who has used them

yes we have already found millions of screws all over the van! LOL
