Looks VERY similar to Cromford Rugby Club where the 1st RTTH was held.

hello all, regarding the pictures hope the`re ok,there is two other smaller rooms to the right a bit more comfier, you cant see it in the pics but the field is all fenced in with 2 big gates one at the top of the field and one at the club end of the field, the showers and the snap cabin are also out of site, the field has also been cut recently.Just a query one of the threads has mentioned it being similar to your first meet at the rugby club, did that meet go ok and are you all still using that venue? sorry for being nosey its just that i want things to be right for you all if you decide to come over to shirebrook.Cheers Ross

time to get this one back to the top again, anyone thought of a date yet for this? i think the least we can do is get a coupla dozen vans over to check it out after such a kind offer from ross. the facilities look good and the field looks ace.
we'll never please everyone with a date but i think we should just pick one soon and guage interest. just on a weekend camp basis with no entertainment etc.
the site is of course close to sherwood forest etc for those who want something to do in the daytime.

a couple of questions ross.

what time friday evening could people arrive until? most folks come after work and some a fair distance.

would the local residents object to folks sitting out talking etc until the early hours or are they far enough away not to be bothered?

There's a club 80-90 meet at Rainton, N.Yorks that weekend. It was organised as long ago as October 2009.

yeh there is but up to now only 3 names on the list. 16th to 18th would be good for me.
should we stick it in events and see if theres any interest? better check with ross first tho and make sure he hasn't anything booked that weekend

There are currently only 3 names on the list for the Rainton meet but several other have expressed an interest in attending but can't commit until nearer the time. Imho arranging another meet only 80 miles from Rainton on the same weekend isn't a good idea. Why not support the Rainton meet & have the Shirebrook mini-meet on another weekend?

There are not many free dates so what ever date we pick it will clash with something!

errmmm because i don't fancy it if i was interested in it i would have posted there.
i just think everyone is umming and ahhhing when this is an absolute gift. how long do you think before the chap gets bored of offering?
as red westie ses every date will clash with something, either school hols or another meet or someones summer hols etc etc. i just think we should stick one in camps and see who's interested. i'll organise it if you like (not that theres owt to organise)
cmon lets just grasp the nettle and go have a looksee

Red Westie wrote:As for those holding the reins of the club Ian......the members are the club, the mods run the site. If this were to be done it would be 'the members' doing the work with the backing and approval of the club mods..
Involvement of individuals who happen to be mods would be advantageous all the same but the majority of the organising would need to be by volunteers, in my opinion.

Martin
maybe those that do "hold the reins of the club " wont agree with the above statement.... there is one hell of a lot more to it than just the forum and the site, it isnt powered by fairy dust!

We need to have a look see, a chat with Ross and then think about a major meet there. Definately NOT any form of show, no entertainment or other form of financial; risk. leave the show thing to VF Ltd and Dubliminal ect, we dont need the hassle. We have many many people with ideas, alas not nearly as many who actually pop out into the real world of camping 80-90 ..

A large meet of only club members would be fantastic, but it aint gonna happen overnight, Ross isnt gonna fold the feild up post it somewhere else if we dont get a huge meet sorted by midnight is he? He said himself he needs to make it stay open afterall.
calm down and do it right, there is more to sorting a camping meet than selecting a date ( and clashing is downright rude) even a small one , never mind a huge one.

Afterall 80-90 didnt happen overnight, the camping thing didnt just happen on its own, it took people to make it happen, some of which do "hold the reins of the club"
