Right, plugged an oil pressure gauge in and it looks like its ok :ok
We need a new dash though. Since we took it out and tried to repair the connector ribbon the dash lights and gauges have been really sketchy and some of the warning lights have stopped working altogether. Its obviously dodgy connections plus Leo broke the speedo needle off when refitting them!

So, anyone have a cheap set of clocks for sale? Theres a revcounter one on ebay but the seller wants £185 for it!!!!!!!!

Right! Its been awhile since we've updated this so here goes!
This is where we left it i think, with the buggered ribbon connector

We now have good news and bad news at the moment really, we did find and buy some clocks from a chap on brickwerks, it took awhile but we got them in the end.
The new clocks:

That is sort of indifferent news really, the good news is that we tested the oil pressure with an electric and manual gauge and its reading fine with both which is a huge relief 8) . However the bad news is that the new (ish) clocks we purchased must be a different year and dont work properly!! :(
Funny things happen like when indicating the oil led flashes instead of the indicator led! A few of the other stuff does work though like the lights when on full, (but not the sidelights), the hazards work and the fuel gauge we think. BUT
the strangest thing we found though is that the temp gauge shoots right off the scale regardless!

So we have a few questions that hopefully someone can help us with:
Is there anything we can do to these clocks to solve these issuse I.e switch wires around etc??
Does anyone know what year these clocks look like there from?
Or is there anyway we can tell what year these clocks are?
And are these clocks useless to us and if so is it essential to get clocks for the exact year of our van (1989) ?

Heres a few more photos:
New set from back

The ribbon connector on the new clocks, note in a different place but in much better condition

And the old set, originals from our van

Thanks in advance, Leo and Edd

You could try and hard wire the original doing away with the PCB completely. I'm sure there is something in the wiki about it

Found this great thread when trying to find out how to repair the holey and very rusty inside frame of sliding window. Anyone know if these guys finished the van?

I have just discovered this thread too, and wondering the same. Fair play to them tackling welding with no knowledge, only way to learn I guess by getting stuck in.
