Aye, but if you take the head off to fix it, you will need to change the head gasket rings and the 2 rubber(ish) "O" rings per liner as well. (though some have said they did not replace the "O" rings as they did not disturb the liners, but I wouldn't gamble on it)

Ok, my rule would be if I take the head off, all seal/ gaskets would be renewed.

Strange it only leaked when freezing not warm or hot & running.

As I'm lazy, can you point me to threads about replacing this seal. i hate the search on here.

My mates getting a scrapper soon. I might check that lump out.

The heads are usually stuck to the gasket and in turn to the top of the barrel anyway ...

It all depends how the head studs are and the exhaust studs ... IF they are all ok the job can be a doddle BUT one snapped head stud and it can be game over and you've wasted your (or even worse a garage's) time and you're back to square 1.

KarlT on here did a brilliant write up with lots of pictures (it is where got that pic of blocked pipe from on page 3 of this thread) but I have searched for it before and it has gone It was about 7+ years ago (around the time we had the same issue with our TinTop van).

It was called summat like "Water pouring out - it lives" or very similar. I searched for threads with "Pouring" in the title by KarlT (plus some variations) and it came up with nowt

There are likely other re-build threads though, I will have a look for you

We did pay someone to try and sort ours out, but it all went a bit pear shaped when I re-fitting it (in the middle of winter) it had ZERO oil pressure and mixed oil and water like no tomorrow We ended up getting an engine off Billy739 and that one is still going strong.

Hi guys.

The van has been running well lately without any water issues, just a few drips here and there. After Big Bang, I got home and guess what? Yep water leak
After a quick look I found a split house that goes to cylinder #1. I have now changed this but have found another leak in doing so.

It would appear that one of the head rubbers is leaking. What I don't understand is when it leaks. If I clear the leak (it sits on the top of the head) it doesn't leak again. When I run it, it doesn't leak. Last night, after a 100mile ride, I checked it every 30minutes for 4 hours - it hadn't leaked (the engine was cold). This morning there is a little puddle on top of the head.

Any ideas why it leaks like this?

I would have expected it to leak under pressure not when cold. Also why isn't it a constant leak.
