who did it?

I wonder this too...most shocking is the pure laziness of the job....if I painted a lock and roof rack green I would be ashamed to give it back to a blind person! Not even a poor attempt at masking...just no masking at all!

Was any welding done I wonder or is it all just stuck together with filler? It may actually be better if it is..least it will come apart easier for proper repair.

O dear i feel sorry for this lady,if ,like it sounds she has paid quite a bit.I commented earlier in the post,now looking at the recent pictures i was wrong,very wrong.Did you get a invoice for the work?Did the repairer state what work was to be done on the invoice? Go back and speak to them,as soon as possible,if he has any pride he will do it again.Was the roof rack and seals covered in paint before?Not sure if youl have a case about welding under arches,behind fridge,etc as they may not have been discused at time of quote.Are you going to name and shame, id wait to see what he says before you burn your bridges.

what sort of money did it cost for the resto work ,

I agree with Dbz864. Don't name and shame them unless they refuse to rectify or refund you. Maybe point them towards this forum.

I would be squeezing him so tight that my money would drip out of his eye sockets...

All I can do is send my best wishes and hope you get the outcome you deserve, try to have some happy times in your van my lovely so you remember just how much fun they are. I am sure the lovely people on here will help you get the outcome you need. Keep positive

well i have the benefit of having full pickies of the work required as i looked at the job earlier in the year, I also know the cost involved and i can see the end result..
So,agree no good to name and slag just yet as in fairness they need a chance to address the situation and if that fails then progress from there.
with regards to the seals, well what I do is not really relevany but it is good practice to replace faulty /old/tired seals, in respect of the side windows then 60 notes and the screens under 80 genuine, a minor figure in the scheme of things.
I am led to beleive the interior was left in ? well for some of the specific repairs I know of ,it is impossible to do with it still fitted,and not just due to the fire risk......
the fridge /side panal was shot and needed repairing as per sunnivagon or simmilar,this has a coat of thick filler, so even if a nasty little wrap over pa nal was used and pop rivited on there wold still be the faint seam visible,
I could go on but there is little need just now.
as for getting them to make good ! well this WAS their main money shot and I dont believe they have the ability to do the job as originally requested. I would also want some 500 ontop to cover the work required un doing the rubbish and removing that paint which will not be hard/cured plus the filler etc etc.
distance to get work done has often been raised and whilst for small jobs its not viable financially, for larger jobs it is,same as stuff goes to baxters and steve at gasure and a few others on here. in my case i have in the past and forthcoming, vehicles shipped from the states and europe let alone most of the uk, heck there its fuel and a train ticket, as for seeing the work being done, well I dont allow it full stop so it that respect im maybe at odds with the rest of the world so be it thats my deal but i do take an awfull lot of realtime pickies.

I told Sarah pretty much the same. Although the fella that took the money in his workshop doesn't actually do the work, his team of Polish workers (please, I am not trying to insinuate Polish people do a sub standard job but its just appropriate to point out a sequence of events so far incase it develops into something) probably did what they were told and if the owner doesn't hear there is a problem with the work then kind of unfairly there isn't a problem. Ultimately the owner of the company let this standard of work go out the door as a finished job and when they use bold statements like , "We use only the highest quality materials" and "We believe we are the best in the market" then they have to stand by that and hopefully get this resolved.

I missed this photo too, all the door fittings have had a coat of green as well as the window squirters and pretty much any thing else that doesn't move if you shout BOOO!!!

jeez that is outrageous,will love to know who it is when it is all over,there is a letter in the new Camper and Bus where some one bought a van from a vw specialist in west sussex based on his reputation and write ups,such as theirs and had a nightmare with it,he suggests they publish stories about people's not so good dealings with traders,good idea but will probably never happen

I have just picked my jaw up from off the floor. That is unbelievably bad - I'm actually lost for words. I totally agree with metalmick8y:

I'd be very reluctant to let them within a mile of it again. I really feel for you Sarah, I'm actually sitting here fuming
I appreciate that a trader should ideally be given a chance to rectify any problems but see metalmick8ys statement above; you have every right not to want them anywhere near it again......

^^^ I really don't think it should be you that is naming the company.That's upto to Sarah to do if she feels it is necessary.

Agreed...if the company are concerned about getting a bad reputation they may refund...if the cats already out of the bag then they have nothing to lose....so everybody SSHHHHHH.!
