You might get away with it if the van has braided Goodridge type brake hoses, they must account for a bit of reduced pedal travel when compared to a standard set-up. Likewise a narrower master bore will mean less pedal effort for the same clamping force at the caliper.
I have heard of someone who fitted the BMW E30 servo plus master cylinder (by accident, not usually done) which worked really well with something like S6 calipers. Don't know what the bore is but the cylinder port layout is similar if not the same as the T3 one.

The camera was rock solid until the engine started  Only kidding...

Nice work :ok Are you going to get the matrix display working too?

If you mean the 'FIS' or 'Half-FIS' display, then no as mine doesn't have that. The middle bit just has a group of back-lit warning icons, all the info (such that it is) is in the LCD's. If a pre-CAN FIS TDI cluster came along at a reasonable price I'd be tempted to get it to play with, but they're quite rare.

So many TLA's in use these days it's hard to know what to call anything anymore! Audi call it DIS (driver info system) but I thought that "matrix display" was a more universal term

I see you are using the stalks too. how difficult is that? I'm partway through a Mk3 GTI conversion.

The cruise switch 'talks' direct to the TDI ECU. I'm using a 'late' 80-pin ECU, and 'early' switch which has a different pinout to the 'late' switch, so some thought was needed to connect it in a way that works. The 'early' MFA switch connects to the cluster, and again it works different to the 'late' MFA switch, but it can be connected in a way that operates the MFA display OK. So long as you have the wiring diagrams you should be OK.

Any views on 22mm vs 23.8mm ? Too much of a step down ?...

23mm are available as well, sharan part, same shape as a mk3 golf one...got a feeling the T4s had 24mm ones but not 100% on that

Okay I now have my stick mitts on a set of Passat clocks with an electronic speedo.
Now - how do we drive the speed Signaturecustoms suggested a Bora drive as suggested by Signaturecustoms.

Who is doing something different?

I can get a Renault Twingo drive for about 14€ from flea bay but don't know if it would do the job.
I did see a thread where someone used a Fjord speedo drive but I'll be buggered if I can find it.

Cheers

I have finally got my hands on an Audi type 85 dash loom, complete with VDO oil pressure control module :D
An added bonus is the offer of a type 85 Bentley manual to identify all the feeds!

Still not sure how the dash pod is going to clear the master cylinder, some proper engineering will be required there...

Okay, this is the second set of clocks.

These don't have the same clearance issues.

Sat in the hole they sit a little too deep.

But with a cleverly designed dod of wood.
Image

There are a few tweaks needed to the clocks and surround.

I was hoping for a simple approach to the electrical side but no..
The 14 pole connector
Image

But it doesn't have the standard spacing for the contacts.

So I'll buy a converter board from Tobia along with the clock tuner and the optical pick up to power the speedo.

What goes into here?

I'm on about the 4 pin socket on the left.

That would be CAN bus. Nice set though.

Thanks, what does it do and do I need it?

Having googled a bit I think I can ignore the CAN.
