Reckon they will take long to charge ?

usually a 5 days is enough.
I think Nestys took that long after an extended trip

I am nearly ready to take the 2 x 6v battery plunge (Thanks to Nesty for his advice .)

I currently have the usaul 12v leisure battery set-up with a split charge. Will the split charge still work with 2x6v batteries ?

I would doubt that your alternator will charge them properly though. they need to be phased when charging
Best not using the split charge and charge them at home before you go away.

Thats cool. Charging at home wont be an issue. Any advice on what to connect the 2 batteries with?

Was looking at thistypes of cable (not this exact one as its 24v), but something similar

Go to a welding shop and buy some welding cable. 35mm2 or even 70mm2. About £4-6 per metre.
I've got two 80AH batteries joined together and used 35mm2

I assume the 'Sterling power products' box is the Sterling charger that has been mentioned on here?

Does that run off the mains or from the alternator? If it is the mains, can you run it whilst hooked up?

How much do they cost and where did you buy it from?

I'm one of those people, but my problem is with my starter battery being the wrong (Ah), and extreme freezing conditions not helping. Found a good 72ah Varta at just over £100 delivered which I think is a good deal, and its CCA is 680 which Im happy with.

I've even been looking at Solar trickle chargers to help the longevity of my new battery, which I, given the price of batteries these days, its a wise investment I feel when you don't use your bus every day.

I have read this thread from start to finish though, and am certainly interested in these come the time when I install my electrics.

Mine is a alternator powered one (as are most mentioned on here) with mine, you can buy a normal mains charger
( say 10-20amp plus) and when you plug it in the sterling will use it to charge all the vehicle batteries. You can get a mains powered sterling version with the same gizmos as mine. But I don't really use campsites with hook ups and I wild camp a fair bit, so the alternator version is much better for me. It was my aim to be 240v free, which is what I now am.
Cost wise, they seem to be £300 up for new, I got mine second hand from eBay for just over £100. So not cheap, but they a great job

So I take it the sterling is attached to both batteries, and does away with the split charge relay?

Do you attach the mains charger direct to the sterling, or to the battery as normal?
