My "new" (second hand off Billy 2 years ago) engine was a VW recon DG, with DG heads, but it had a DF manifold  (smaller inlet holes = did not match up right with the ports in the head!)

I had a spare DG mainifold & carb off my old DG and fitted that = much better performance after that swap :)

Yep that link to the German VW spares outfit is a good find.
Just in case anyone has hassle navigating to the main T3 spares section, here is a link =

It's just normal (IIRC 1" ?) silicone hose with a stainless spring inserted to prevent it kinking. After all these years the spring wasn't required anymore as the hose had set in shape.

I got a really posh one from the local breakers, I just looked for one that needed a slight cut off one end to make it fit, and away we go. I think it was off a Volvo. Cost £1 iirc.

Ordinary silicone hose will not last as you have oil vapours going through that pipe. Will have to empty your pockets but do shop around.

I have a good tip here, VW still sell (or did a few months ago) the DF code breather hose which works fine with a pierburg?DG set up on my van, it was 11 quid. Alternatively I have some convoluted plasticised rubber hose for water which fits very well and has a bit of corect diameter rubber hose on each end, you can have that if you like for postage.

Mine has been on for at least 6 years to my knowledge and as I said has gone hard ( ) and no longer needs the spring but for what this is used for I would beg to differ. :ok
